Working To Feed Auburn City School Kids
Who We Are
Our History
Here at Auburn Sustenance Project, we know that sometimes all it takes to change the world is a little support. Students in the Department of Human Development and Family Science at Auburn University began supporting local Auburn City School children in Fall 2021. As students explored the impacts of food insecurity on academic success, physical development, social development, cognitive development, as well as the family stress caused by the lack of food consistency, the desire to reduce food insecurity within the local community emerged. The core of our efforts is to provide approximately 450 K-5 students with breakfast, lunch, and snack during the summer months, winter break, Thanksgiving break, and spring break. This student led project exemplifies the College of Human Science's tagline "People Helping People".
